Academic editing services

  • Editing involves a thorough review of your document to correct grammar and punctuation mistakes, ensure consistent spelling and style choices, and address any structural concerns, such as unsupported arguments or contradictions. On top of meticulous corrections, it includes encouraging, easy-to-follow instructions to make your work clearer and more appealing to readers. For instance, I’ll flag opportunities to add further clarification or address your reviewers’ concerns.

This service is a great fit for authors and students who need feedback on improving their work and using an appropriate academic style, not just basic language corrections. It’s suitable for both writers who speak English as a second language and native English speakers. In traditional terms, this service encompasses copy editing, stylistic editing, structural editing, and line editing.

If you’re confident about your tone, argumentation, and style but need help with English grammar, proofreading might be a better fit.

  • If you’re already confident about how your research is presented but just need help correcting your English grammar, punctuation, and spelling, proofreading can help. Unlike editing, proofreading focuses on correcting mistakes without addressing style, structure, or overall clarity. It’s an important step to make sure your readers aren’t distracted by mistakes or improper word use.

Proofreading is a lighter service than editing, without in-depth feedback and bigger-picture suggestions. For that reason, it’s a more affordable way to add polish and professionalism to your research article or dissertation.

If you need help with your document’s structure. argumentation, and style, editing might be a better fit than proofreading.

  • Figuring out how to apply the right house style for your target journal or how to follow a style guide—such as APA, Chicago, or MLA—is challenging. As an expert, I can efficiently apply any style to your work. That way, you can focus on your research while leaving the guidelines to me.

This service helps avoid publication delays that can occur when a document doesn’t follow guidelines or instructions. It also pairs well with my editing and proofreading services. I can reformat your research and edit or proofread it at the same time, helping you meet your deadlines.

  • If you’re struggling to figure out how to format your references and citations properly, I can help. Citation problems can delay publication, but you can trust me to ensure proper referencing. I’m an expert at applying reference and citation styles. Whether you need to follow a broader style (like APA or Chicago) or a journal’s specific reference guidelines, I can apply the right style.

I’m happy to correct the citations and references throughout your document or just your reference list. I’ll also address issues like citations that don’t appear in the reference list and vice versa or incorrectly spelled author names.

You can combine this service with any of my other services. That way, your references and citations are efficiently corrected at the same time as your writing.
